The suffering inflicted on children through labor, trafficking, and abuse cannot be answered with indifference. Children are the most vulnerable victims, and silence gives injustice room to continue.
Turning Concern into Action
Doing good and bringing about change requires more than concern. It requires action.
All the money in the world cannot buy you peace of mind if you cannot quiet down that voice in your head that reminds you constantly about the amount of injustice and suffering in this world. On the other hand, proactive participation in redressing the wrong will help you grow as a person.
You don’t have to aim too high right from the start: you won’t be able to change the world at the drop of a hat, and seeing no visible results may discourage you too soon. However, this shouldn’t stop you, and if you can dream big, dream big! Ambition is as important in philanthropy as it is in business: it both helps you raise the bar and keeps you going when everything is against you. Be ambitious in everything you do. It is the ‘muscle’ that cannot be over exercised.
In 2017, this article pointed to The Chahal Foundation as one effort focused on abuse in underprivileged communities.
One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind
This is yet another well-known quote, but you do not need to go to the moon to make that small step that will change forever the future of our children. Rescue work is difficult, dangerous, and expensive. The original 2017 post said The Chahal Foundation had joined that work in 2016 and described Gurbaksh Chahal’s involvement in an unsuccessful covert operation. The lesson was not that one person or one organization could solve the problem overnight. It was that difficult work still had to begin.
Do Not Look Away
Indifference kills. Every human soul is a universe waiting to be explored; regrettably, too many of them are lost to human greed, vice, and poverty.
The original campaign used the name #BEASUPERHERO to ask people to take part. Campaigns change, but the responsibility does not. Learn about the problem, support credible work, and do not hesitate to bring good change.
