Life will not always be a bed of roses, and your dream job will not be handed to you. Getting where you want to go takes time and effort. If you refuse to invest either one, you cannot expect your life to move.

Keep on Moving

If you want to change where you are, who or what you to be, or what you want to do, you can’t do any of that by staying where you are and hoping the world around you will change. The drive must come from within, and that might mean you have to break out of your comfort zone.

Motivation is hardest thing to find-even harder than passion. In Greek mythology, Sisyphus is condemned to roll a boulder up a steep hill again and again. Every night, the boulder rolls back down. Sisyphus never escaped this cycle. The question is, will you? How will you get your boulder to the top of the mountain?

If you can find the power within you to push yourself through the struggles and make it to the top, you will find success. It’s just a matter of finding the right combination of passion, drive, and inspiration. Once you do that, anything is possible.

How Gurbaksh Chahal Finds His Inspiration

The article turns to advice Steve Jobs delivered in his 2005 Stanford commencement address: “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

There are two parts to this sentence. First, in terms of staying hungry, you always have to be looking ahead. In this respect, there is no end goal, because if you have a final goal, at some point you are going to have wonder what comes next-and you won’t have an answer. Always have something to strive for and something to look for.

The second part is to “stay foolish”. Many breakthroughs would not have happened if someone had not been foolish enough to try. It is okay to think outside the box, because you don’t know what’s out there. Nobody does. Maybe you will discover the next new technology, or a way to solve a crisis like world hunger. If you’re not foolish enough to think you can do those things, you can’t be an innovator. An innovator has to always be thinking that there might be a solution that hasn’t been tried yet. When they say that there is no such thing as a stupid question, or a stupid, idea, they really mean that.

Passion Will Get You Everywhere

No matter what you want to do in life, find something you are passionate about. The more passion you have for what you do, the more you will want to push the envelope. Being successful isn’t just about reaching a goal; it’s about going beyond that goal and making everything about your passion worthwhile.

In the words of Gurbaksh Chahal, “We were born to win; we were born for greatness; we were created to be champions in life.” There are a lot of areas in life where we can be champions, and there are many opportunities for all of us to find our passion that will lead us to our own success.

This is not an overnight process, and it is not an easy one. Nobody ever won a marathon by standing still; they did so by pacing themselves, mile after mile, hour after hour. But, if you put in the effort, and you continue to work hard, you will reach the finish line. You will feel relieved and accomplished. Then you will ask yourself, “What’s next?” Keep moving.
